Repurposed batteries

First life on the road. Next life on the grid.

Repurposed EV packs, each keeping its own battery management, tested before build and monitored for life.

Why repurpose

Too good to scrap.

Every day, EVs come off the road: some at the natural end of their life in the car, others early after an accident. In the majority of cases, the battery is still healthy and ready to be used again.

Batteries last

Better than new for storage.

EV batteries are lasting far longer than expected. Used again in stationary storage and charging, they do the same job as new cells with a fraction of the carbon.

Built for tougher duty

Packs built for crashes, vibration and fast charging find storage an easy life.

A gentler next life

Lower charge rates, steady temperatures and no vibration add 10 to 15 years.

Lower embedded CO2

Reuse avoids making a new pack: around 7 tonnes of CO2 for a 75kWh battery.

Recycled later

Materials are recovered after a longer life, ready for the next EV batteries.

In each range

How MAX and MEV use repurposed packs.

MAX

Four to eighteen packs

NMC or NCA, with optional LFP, in single or mixed chemistry. 94% average pack state of health in our systems, a 12-year battery life and 60% lower embedded CO2 than new cells. Packs are replaced individually to extend life.

MEV

Two or three packs

800V packs, each on its own slide-out carrier with its own converter and battery management, so one can be serviced while the others keep charging. An estimated 15 to 24 tonnes of CO2e avoided per MEV against new cells.

Lower carbon, lower cost, same performance.
